AUSTRALIAN AI FILM FESTIVAL - THE STORY

The very first Australian AI Film Festival (AAIFF) stands as a groundbreaking milestone, proudly claiming its title as Australia's ownAI film festival, and everyone is invited. Launching in Spring 2025, this event will be one of the most pivotal moments in Australia’s cinematic history.

This inclusive, pioneering event heralds a seismic shift in the cinematic landscape, spotlighting the revolutionary role of AI-powered creators in filmmaking. By showcasing how AI redefines creativity—through crafting breathtaking hyper-real visuals, optimizing production workflows, and expanding the horizons of storytelling for those without large studio budgets—the AAIFF sets a bold precedent for the fusion of technology and art.

The Australian AI Film Festival is steered by its co-founders: Futurist, Matt Coleman, and Film Producer turned AI Filmmaker, Brett Hardy, who together bring a formidable and proven track record of delivering world-class, innovative events. Matt Coleman's Magnify World series, a global summit focused on emerging technologies like AR/VR and AI, consistently attracted over 6,000 delegates and 184 international speakers from Fortune 500 companies such as Apple, Google, and Paramount Studios, while generating over $3 million in online publicity. This mastery in curating large-scale, future-focused events is powerfully complemented by Brett Hardy's multi-decade experience contributing to award-winning film and television projects recognised at both grassroots and prestigious international film festivals in Australia, Asia, Europe and the US, along with his experience executive producing landmark events like the Environmental Symphony at the UN General Assembly in New York City.  

As the inaugural festival kicks off in 2025, it not only celebrates innovation with features like AI judges and global online accessibility, but also cements Australia's place at the forefront of technology and cinema, igniting inspiration for filmmakers and tech visionaries to shape the future of storytelling.
